How To Develop Singing ConfidenceSingers and professionals need to have confidence when performing. It is not that they are arrogant or pretentious but they have to hold themselves in a high regard so they can keep honing their skills. Artists that push ahead may even try new things and they generally last longer in their profession. These performers include names like Elton John, Madonna, U2, Sting and Snoop Dog. They have all taken chances and been confident to push their singing to the highest levels. When you sing you should focus on trying to get your self confidence high. If you are learning then practise daily and treat your vocal organs correctly. You have to push yourself to new heights just like the stars. If you do this it will lead to greater confidence in your voice and make you take credit for what you are doing. Your singing will never progress unless you do these things. Tell other about your progress and own your successes which will make you feel good about where you are going. Artists in the public eye get their gratification from their fans. Of course this is not the case for most of us. We have to receive our gratification from different sources. This process involves pushing yourself beyond your comfort levels so you can grow as a singer. You may not get to perform on stage or in front of a huge group but that is fine. You will gain experience and learn to control and monitor your voice on a professional level. Singing with confidence requires that you take those chances. You have to be willing to show yourself emotions and confidence on stage. You have to open yourself up to the audience and they in turn will respond. That way there is a connection between you and the audience and they will listen. It could mean wearing your heart on your sleeve, but hopefully the audience will follow. Even if you are shy you have to appear not to be. However, if you are an extrovert but sincere the audience will see that and understand. To get the odds in your favour you have to sing in front of a crowd no matter how overwhelming. Remember to choose a song that you are familiar with to sing in front of a crowd, one you can sing well. When choosing the song, choose an artist and a song that you can sing in your tone. Choose one that you have sung before and that moves you. If you choose the right song you will be able to stay in key and be sincere and emotional about what you are singing. You will probably turn out to be a hit! As you practise different songs choose the selection of songs and artists. Only when you mimic the greats and do the variety you will begin to develop your own sound and your own style. It doesn’t matter whether your voice is smooth or raspy you will find your own style and vocal range. Keep your music varied and always practice one step at a time, learning and thinking about what it is that you have gained each day that you practise. |
